Special Workshop on "Sensor Web and Flood Monitoring"

 

The Workshop will be held on 6th of June 2008 at the National Space Agency of Ukraine (NSAU).

The Workshop is jointly organized by:

National Space Agency of Ukraine (NSAU)
  • National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)
  • CEOS Working Group on Information Systems and Services
  • International Federation of Red Cross

 

Objective

 The Workshop is devoted to the implementation of Sensor Web technologies for disaster monitoring and prediction, in particularly, floods and fires. The Workshop will cover the following topics:

  • introduction to IFRC and its activities,
  • cascade of models for flood monitoring and prediction,
  • implementation issues (using OGC’s CSW, OPeNDAP, Sensor Web, etc.)

2. Cascade of models for flood monitoring and prediction:

  • flood extent extraction from SAR and optical imagery (EO-1)
  • models verification

3. Implementation issues:

  • OGC’s CSW
  • OPeNDAP
  • Sensor Web
  • visualization (using KML, Google Earth)

4. Data Sets and Products Availability:

  • ASAR/Envisat
  • EO-1
  • MSG, MetOp-1
  • MODIS
